Not properly maintaining your website after it goes live creates a great deal of problems, such as decrease in performance and speed, increased vulnerability to hackers and spam bots, penalization by search engines, less visibility by search engines, and it can cost you a lot of money should something go wrong. Having a professional WordPress developer maintaining your website for you can give you piece of mind in knowing that the site is looked after at all times and if you choose a plan with content changes, you will have a professional WordPress developer and graphic designer at your disposal to make graphic, photo, file, and/or content updates and changes for you every month!
Maintenance and updates are especially crucial with increasing hacking techniques, and having outdated files is one of the biggest ways to invite malware. Keeping out-of-date files, themes and plugins on your server is comparable to laying out a welcome mat for hackers and bots. Some of the biggest widespread malware infections of the recent past came about because of vulnerabilities in out-of-date WordPress installations and out-of-date plugins. *Please note that although it’s rare, serious issues can arise when updating website files. (Many people think the solution to this is to just not update your files. That is completely wrong and a terrible practice.) If issues arise that exceed 1 hour to address, you will be notified and asked to approve the additional needed time. Most issues are minor and can be resolved within an hour.
**If the website is hacked, extra time could be needed to fix the site. The sooner it’s caught the quicker it will be to fix. Please note that even with all of these important extra measures, I still cannot guarantee that the website will be 100% safe from all hackers. Hackers work very hard to stay ahead of the game finding new ways to sneak into sites. Having a monthly maintenance plan is the first step in fighting against these attacks and making sure your site stays in good standings with Google. (Outdated code, malicious files, hacked sites, etc are flagged and penalized by Google and it can be hard to recover from that.)
